In the comics, Hunter Zolomon is his own man, in that he isn’t the Earth-1 counterpart to Jay Garrick. Rather than killing him, the explosion gives Zolomon “super speed” in that it allows him to control his own timeline, making him far and away “the fastest man alive.”Īs stated above, in a recent interview Flash EP Andrew Kreisberg stated that Zoom is in fact Hunter Zolomon, after last week’s reveal could have made it questionable which “Jay Garrick” we were dealing with. In a rage, Zolomon attempts to use the Treadmill himself, blowing up it - and himself - in the process. The Flash tells Hunter that he can’t, as mucking with the time stream always does more damage than it repairs. Knowing that Wally West has the ability to travel back in time thanks to a combination of his powers and the ridiculously named “Cosmic Treadmill,” Hunter pleads for the Flash to travel back in time and stop Grodd from crippling him.

Unfortunately, Hunter gets a little too close to the action, and finds himself in the paws of one Gorilla Grodd, who promptly breaks his back, crippling the police psychologist from the waist down. The Flash and Zolomon become fast friends, with Hunter’s expertise helping Wally out when he needs a new super-crook case cracked. In Keystone, Hunter sets himself up as the expert on “Rogue” psychology, promising to diagnose and help put a stop to Keystone’s villainous population.
